‘Juneteenth: A Celebration of Black Freedom’ will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022. The two-hour occasion will include the African Jazz Ensemble drove by Ekpe Abito – a 10-piece band which has been playing together for over forty years, integrating African impacts into customary jazz, soul, and R&B.
There will be finger food sources and rewards, as well as a money bar. There will be some seating, yet visitors can bring folding chairs and covers.
“We are excited to cooperate with the Memphis people group to respect Black independence from subjection and celebrate this significant achievement,” says Michele Arquette-Palermo, Director of Community Engagement for the Museum. “Having the option to include the African Jazz Ensemble, with their lively beat, will make this a festival for Memphis.”
